Thanks for your interest in volunteering with the Community Bike Project Omaha!
Volunteers are the heart and soul of CBPO and our Open Shop program, which currently runs three days a week, is a great way to get involved. Here are some volunteer positions we’re always looking to fill during Open Shop:
- Volunteer Coordinator – Volunteer coordinators coordinate and effectively communicate to other volunteers work that needs to be completed during Open Shop.
- Traffic Flow Manager – The Traffic Flow Manager manages the flow of people in and out of the Shop, ensuring that people who arrive at the shop are greeted warmly and providing an explanation to each guest regarding wait times for repairs with a volunteer mechanic.
- Volunteer Mechanic – Volunteer Mechanics are the mentors and teachers to the guests coming to the Shop to learn to maintain their bicycles.
- Key Holders – Key Holders are ultimately responsible during Open Shop operations, handling any disputes or problems that arise during Open Shop and generally making any decisions necessary for the maintenance of a safe and enjoyable shop.
If you’re interested, here is where you will find everything you need to get started:
Volunteer Application >> Ready to volunteer? Complete this application and bring it to the Shop. Paper copies are also available at the Shop if you can’t print this out.
CBPO’s Volunteer Guide >> Download these details about volunteering with the Project. The Volunteer Guide is also in a binder at the Shop.

Community Events
The Community Bike Project helps out in lots of community events, both in Gifford Park and throughout our larger Omaha community. Volunteering at these events is another great way to help us out and get involved in our community. Check out our list of events on our calendar page and contact us if you want to help out!

CBPO and Live Well Omaha have teamed up to bring bike sharing to Omaha! B-cycle extends access to bicycles by putting them out in the public for everyone to use. We've started out in Midtown and hope to expand soon. Check it out!
